The "isms" Presentation

To the students who left a note on my desk -

Of course you have to do all the "isms" in your presentation. Please make sure that you are ready to do the presentation in your next class.

It should have been done last week!

Please have your PowerPoint ready before the beginning of next class.
Also check that you have everything on your blog (including the powerpoint) and it is working.

You must have the following on your blog:-

  1. The ten aspects of Cultual diversity
  2. The PowerPoint
  3. Quiz 1
  4. Quiz 2
  5. Reflection on the disability videos
  6. Reflection on making your Cultural Diversity film

I am still waiting for the class leader to send me the document with all groups and their video URL.
There will be no extensions - the deadline is over!

CEP Grades

CEP

Your grades are up. If you have not given me your presentation or report, make sure that you do so before midday tomorrow.

For those of you who were not at all prepared, I hope you learn from this experience and realize that it is impossible to give a good preparation if you do not prepare really well.

Congratulations Khaled on getting 100% for your presentation.

It was wonderful to hear a student speak so well on Cultural Diversity.

Good Luck in your exams

Frankie

ADMC in Cambodia?

ADMC students in Cambodia?

I am trying to find out how many ADMC students would be interested in volunteering for a short time at Honour Village Cambodia if they were given the opportunity to go.

If you are interested, please watch the video on this page again.

Read the stories of these volunteers.

Then, write me an email explaining why you would like to go. Please send the email this week if possible – the deadline is 31st January.

I hope you all continue to have your eyes opened to the wonderful diversity of our world and have a wonderful year

Good Luck

Frankie

Hi Everyone

Some students do not seem to know the exact time of their presentation.
Please check the email that Elinore Sreedharan <esreedharan@hct.ac.ae> sent to you on
December 12.

Please make sure that you start the presentation on time and have your names next to each part of the report that you write.

Good Luck

Your Cultural Diversity Grades

Your Cultural Diversity Grades

Hi Everyone

Please check your grades on grade book.

Please do not waste my time coming to see me to ask for a higher grade just because you have a low mark. In forty years of teaching I have not once given an extra mark just because a student wants it.

Last year, when a student insisted that I remark his paper, I gave it to another teacher to mark and the student ended up getting up getting even less!

If you have a genuine concern about the grade (very occasionally teachers may make a mistake when they enter a grade to grade book) please email me with your section, name, assignment, grade and an explanation of why you think it is wrong. Then, I will consider rechecking it.

It looks like many students will fail this course unless they do extremely well in the presentation/report.

If you have received a zero as your grade it is either because you plagiarized or failed to hand it in by the deadline – three weeks ago. Of course, there are no extensions.

Students who have written at a level so very much higher than they are capable of will be asked to hand-write two paragraphs of my choosing in front of me and then the original and handwritten one will be taken to the supervisor for comparison.

I look forward to watching some quality presentation.

Good Luck

Frankie

Presentation/Report Grade 15% + 15%

Hi Everyone
Happy New Year

Unfortunately, only four groups have submitted a first draft of their PowerPoint presentation.

Only one group has done the required “report”. (What each person is going to say.)

Each member of your group has to write up what they are going to say (make sure your name is next to your writing) and attach it to the relevant PowerPoint slide.

If you have not done this, you will get a very low mark – 15% of your presentation mark is for the report.

Please check your email for your presentation time. Anyone absent or late will get zero – there will be no extensions.

The first presentation is at 12.00 on Monday 7th Jan. You must be ready to start the presentation at that time – you must have your presentation displayed on the soft-board at that time. Marks will be lost if you are not completely ready.

I look forward to watching your presentations – please remember that any “slackers” will get lower marks that the rest of the team and that everyone in the team must be able to answer any question – not just on the section that they did.

If you need any help, please email me and suggest a time for your group to speak to me - I will be availbale all day on Sunday 6th Jan.

Good Luck

Frankie
